Oraimo Trumpet 3: The Mic Really Let Me Down

I wanted to like the Oraimo Trumpet 3, but weak microphone performance and below-average audio quality made it difficult to recommend.

Oraimo Trumpet 3: The Mic Really Let Me Down

The verdict

− Negative

The microphone is the biggest problem, and the overall sound quality doesn't give me much reason to recommend it.

+ What I liked

  • Simple and lightweight design
  • Decent enough for basic listening

− What I didn't like

  • Poor microphone performance; even indoors
  • Bass feels unbalanced
  • Lacks treble and overall clarity

I really wanted to like the Oraimo Trumpet 3 In-Ear Earphone, but my experience with it has been pretty disappointing.

The biggest problem for me is the microphone.

Even when I'm indoors in a relatively quiet environment, the microphone doesn't perform particularly well. My voice doesn't come across as clear as I'd expect, and for an earphone that you might use for calls and meetings, that's a pretty significant issue.

The audio quality isn't much better.

I'd describe it as below average. The bass doesn't feel particularly well balanced, and the overall sound lacks the treble and clarity I personally look for. It can handle basic music and videos, but it doesn't give me much reason to reach for it when I have other options around.

The problem isn't that I expected audiophile-level sound from an affordable in-ear earphone. I didn't. But even with reasonable expectations, the sound feels a little flat and unbalanced.

My take

The Trumpet 3 is usable, but that's about where my praise ends.

The microphone is the biggest deal-breaker for me. If I can't rely on an earphone for a reasonably clear call even in a quiet room, it's hard to overlook.

The audio quality also doesn't help. The bass feels off, the treble isn't quite there, and the overall sound lacks the clarity I would want from something I use regularly.

It works, but I wouldn't pick it again.

That's just my experience with the pair I used, but if you're buying an earphone specifically for calls, meetings or better-quality music, I'd look at other options first.
